Levek

Levek - Shift(GB A Cappella Cover) from David Levesque on Vimeo.

"I'm a bus driver that makes music after a long day of elementary schoolers putting gum on my lovely pleather bus seats. I enjoy a good space jam while sorting through the Disney VHS collection" -Levek

Grizzly Bear posted this video on their facebook page and I couldn't resist to blog about it. Levek covered Grizzly Bear's song "Shift" and made it a cappella. This dreamy version goes so well with the disney footage. You can listen to more of Levek's Mickey Mouse tribal sounds (as he describes them) here.

I Stitched The Knife

I met a new yorker through last.fm a while ago and when he came to Miami to visit an aunt, we decided to go to a wild safari themed party and meet in person. He turned out to be a pretty awesome friend, today is his birthday and since he wore a crow mask that reminded me of The Knife that night we went out, I decided to make a stitched version of it and give it to him as a birthday present. He loves the band, I hope he likes my gift.

Daytrotter

Daytrotter is a website for the recording studio Horseshack, which hosts recording sessions with many popular and upcoming indie music acts.

This is my first day listening to Daytrotter but these recording sessions have been going on for over four years now. The best part of it is that if you like what you hear you can download for free. I've been having a stressful day but these lovely acts have helped not to kick my computer: (click on the photo to listen)

Fedflare.com is an insanely cute boutique based in NYC. I especially love these two useful accessories. The USB tulip would go perfectly with my home office and the Tunes for 2 would make me want to share tunes like this one:

Light Bulb by Rachel Goodrich Video Contest

Light Bulb by Rachel Goodrich from Nobelones on Vimeo

Rachel Goodrich a talented local artist is having a contest and my partner in crime and I decided to enter. The mission was to create a video for one of her songs, "Light Bulb". This song is an uncontrollable joyful song and we agreed to pair it with a joyful little girl, my daughter Luna. I think the best scenes are when she is spontaneously having fun. I hope you like it =D

Charlotte Gainsbourg: IRM

I downloaded Charlotte's album today and I was pleasantly surprised. Her collaboration with Beck really suited her folk meets electronica music. I must learn french to understand her interviews. Here is her first single:

10 Favorite Albums of 2009

2009 Favorite Albums

From left to right:

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
St. Vincent - Actor
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
Taken by Trees - East of Eden
Fever Ray - Fever Ray
Camera Obscura - My Maudlin Career
Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca
Bat for Lashes - Two Suns
Rose Melberg - Homemade Ship
Musette - Datum

It feels a little unfair to list the best albums of only the music I've downloaded, I'm sure there are plenty of great albums out there that I haven't discovered yet. But since I like to keep record of things, these are definitely my favorites of 2009.
